We wait until selections are finalized to provide an accurate estimate. Our preliminary estimate includes general costs based on standard materials, but final costs depend on your chosen materials and design. For example, tile layout and selection, such as intricate designs or specialty materials like glass tile, can significantly impact costs. This approach ensures a more precise and informed final estimate.

As a design/build firm, we manage every aspect of your project from start to finish. All design work is done in-house with access to a wide variety of materials. Once the design and selections are finalized, we provide a detailed estimate, eliminating surprises. Afterward, we handle the entire construction process, ensuring a smooth and streamlined project.

Contractor: A general contractor often requires a design first before providing an accurate estimate. They may work with material allowances, which can result in lower-than-expected project costs. Design 1 uses actual material selections to give you an accurate estimate.

Architect: Architects are ideal for new homes or additions but often lack expertise in kitchen or bath design. For these projects, we provide specialized design services without the need for an architect.

Designer: Independent designers are skilled at creating layouts but usually lack an in-house showroom, requiring you to source materials from multiple suppliers. Design 1 eliminates this hassle with a complete in-house design and selection process.

General contractors typically don’t charge for estimates once the design is in place. Architects and designers often charge non-refundable upfront fees. Design 1 operates on a retainer basis, which is applied to the project once you sign the contract. This retainer ensures we start working on your project without additional upfront costs.

We can still assist you with design and material selection. The process remains similar to our design/build format, but without the construction services. We’ll provide a detailed estimate for materials, and the retainer will apply to the purchase. Once the design is finalized, we provide your contractor with the same detailed binder we use for our full-service projects.

Yes, we offer four cabinet lines for purchase. We can work from an existing design or create a new one for you.
