This kitchen was a very long and narrow space and the homeowner really wanted to use it to it's maximum capacity. Since it is a very narrow space we were limited to how we could use the space and bring extra storage cabinets in. They also wanted to bring in a spot where a desk like area could be added so work could be done while still being able to interact with the family. A great compromise we came up with was to add a narrow island in the center of the room allowing for adequate walking space around it. On the end of the island a lower level countertop was added for the desk area where someone could sit comfortably for a long period of time. Cabinets added in the island created just the right amount of extra storage and the length of the island allowed for double side seating. The elegant contrast keeps the space simple and creates the illusion of a larger kitchen.
