The original layout of this kitchen worked, but the homeowners had saw so much more potential for this space. They wanted to expand the kitchen and add in a dine-in seating area that allowed for more storage and a larger kitchen. A wall into the dining room was knocked down and the wall of cabinets were extended into that area and a peninsula was added. Backsplash tile was places the full height of the wall above the range for a beautiful focal point and was a great way to break up the linear stripe of accent tile that was carried throughout the kitchen. The warm maple cabinets were perfect for that subtle hint of contrast that the kitchen needed to give it a little edge.
