This family was so much fun to work with! Their kitchen cabinets were two different colors and the layout of the first floor was just not functional for their lifestyle. Rooms were changed into different areas and the kitchen became larger to accommodate the storage needed. Fireplace was redone to a completed and finished look, while the adjacent window was taken out and replaced with a sliding door to the backyard. Walls were knocked down to adjoin the kitchen and dining room and the extra space created room for an eat-in kitchen area for the kids. The wall of extra large pantry's were knocked down as well as the bathroom behind it to widen the kitchen and take full advantage of the room. The long narrow hallway was taken away as well to extend the kitchen just that much further. By doing so the homeowners got a nice little entry way that benches and coat hooks were added into for easy storage of coats and boots. The closet behind the kitchen became a first floor bathroom for guests and everyday use. This project shows a great way to recreate your home within the existing footprint!
