Not only did this kitchen get an upgrade but the adjoining rooms got an upgrade as well. In order to complete the whole look of the kitchen, everything had to be started over. Old green carpet and tiles lined the floor creating a dingy look to the rooms. By ripping the carpet and tile up, new hardwood floors were installed and matched to the existing hardwood in the bedrooms creating a seamless look throughout the house. Dark wood cabinets were to much for the space without having the right amount of light. By adding in white cabinets the room was lifted and became a brighter and more eye catching room. The long island dividing the space had to go! By knocking the island down, the kitchen and the living room became and open concept space and was easily coordinated by colors. This also allowed for a new uniquely shaped island to be installed to keep a place for entertaining as well as everyday use. The cocoa accent color on the island keeps for an accent color and eye catcher in the kitchen, as well as keeping to the original wood colors already existing in the house. Stainless steel plumbing is the perfect way to go to tie in your stainless appliances and make is look like a family unit. The herringbone backsplash adds just the right amount of pattern into the space without taking away from the gorgeous countertops of the island and surround. With the countertops being the main focus in the room, the natural colors of the cabinets, wall color, and tile really leave the Deer Island countertop speaking for itself. This homeowner was a pleasure to work with and their project became an overall masterpiece.
