Nordic Storm-Project 2871

A simple countertop replacement turned into a whole new kitchen remodel. Once the existing countertop was removed it became apparent that the existing cabinets were not going to be strong enough to withstand the weight of a new countertop. The decision had to be made to remove the old cabinets that were not in the best shape and replace them with some new heavier cabinets for a whole new look. The tile floor was removed and hardwood floors were put down for a newer clean look carried out the first floor. The dark red cabinets were replaced with antique white cabinets to lighten up the small space and to keep the kitchen from looking and feeling heavy. Smaller cabinet heights accommodated for the existing soffit that we did not want to remove, while keeing plenty of storage space for your everyday items and dishes. A beautiful backsplash was run in a horizontal direction to make the kitchen appear longer and bigger then it really is. The backsplash brought in just the right amount of pattern to not fight with the busy countertop and created an eye catching color contrast between the cabinets. The countertop material coordinated with the backsplash tile and allowed fun movement ti be played throughout. Even through the countertop replacement didn't go as planned, they instead received a whole new kitchen to share with family and friends for years to come.
