The existing kitchen in this home was pretty funky to say the least. It was not the style of the family and needed to be remodeled to show off the families style. Working around existing beams and walls made the designing a little more difficult but it opened up different opportunities and creative ideas. The cabinet run under the window was shortened to allow for a large pantry to store food and other needed items. The wall cabinets were taken down to run against the beam and to create a more open look, as well as replacing the smaller windows with the larger window for more natural light. The kitchen was to cramped and dark and by replacing the windows and creating a straight run under the beam, the kitchen has a wider and more natural feel. The range wall was really short and cramped as well and we needed more space for the new appliances. By knocking off the side wall, we were able to extend that run for the large appliances as well as add a desk area that could also be used for prep zone or for entertaining. A hidden spice pull out is a great way to hide storage and create a leg for the desk drawer to the left. The natural maple color with a slab door and drawer style is the perfect fit for a contemporary style and a neutral color pallet to be used for years to come. The bathroom vanity was updated to match the kitchen and bring a fresh look to their guest bathroom.
